Drivers faced long delays on the A31 in the New Forest today.

A four-car crash near Fritham on the eastbound carriageway at about 10.31am meant the road was partially blocked.

The crash involved a VW van, Hyundai, VW Touran and a Mercedes.

Hour-long queues were reported back to Ashley Heath on the A338 as a result and there were also delays on the westbound carriageway due to people slowing to look at accident.

Drivers were advised to use alternative routes.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said there were no injuries but South Central Ambulance were called.

A car then broke down on the westbound carriageway at Stoney Cross, which caused one lane to be closed.

The lane has now been reopened.
