AN investigation has been launched after a 'sudden death' at a school.

Dorset Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched the joint investigation after a man in his forties died at Sturminster Newton High School on Bath Road on Tuesday.

Officers said they are working with the HSE and the death is not believed to be suspicious. The man's next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been made aware.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 1.53pm on Tuesday, July 19, Dorset Police received a report of a sudden death at Sturminster Newton High School on Bath Road.

"Police and ambulance attended and a man aged in his forties was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

"A joint investigation into the circumstances has been launched by the police and the Health and Safety Executive."

The HSE said the man was a local tradesman working on a boiler.
