AN INDOOR centre which features over 50 trampolines for children and adults has opened in Dorset.

Activate Indoor Trampoline Park features a free jump area, tumble track, angled trampolines, designated area for Parkour and free running, airbag, dodgeball court and soft play area for small children, which is based in Ferndown Industrial Estate.

Sarah-Louise de Wavrin, managing director of the park, said that while there are trampoline parks across the globe, this is the only one in the county and it aims to champion Dorset businesses.

She added: "In building Activate, we like the fact that we are supporting the local area. Our contractors, builders, fabricators and painters are all local and we serve Dorset Tea and Purbeck Ice Cream in the cafe. The airbag is like jumping into the sea and the Walk the Wall is made to look like Old Harry Rocks.

"We want it to be a place where local people can see that it is good for exercise, but also a meeting place which supports the industrial estate."

The launch party, which took place on Friday, July 15, was attended by residents, neighbouring businesses and social media competition winners and funds raised were donated to Ferndown-based cause, The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

Sarah-Louise said that each part of the park has been individually designed to ensure that there is something that appeals to all ages, from small children to teens to adults looking for a different way to get fit or simply have fun.

"We will have a ninja assault course, which takes the concept of an urban assault course and makes it industrial while taking on the theme of the TV show, which will be coming this summer.

"The park should be good for tourism. I just want people to enjoy it and for it to bring business to the area."

Parent, Ben Ratcliffe from Charminster, said: "It's brilliant. My son is seven and he has just got out of the soft play phase, so this is great for him. It's a good business and will be great on a rainy day."

Fellow parents, Mike and Kirsty Whitefield brought their two daughters to the park on the opening weekend. Mike said: "We're really impressed. We've only just discovered this kind of thing in terms of a trampoline park recently. The kids have loved it and the staff have been great."
