BOURNEMOUTH council is set to spend an extra £250,000 fixing potholes across the borough this year.
Transport portfolio holder Cllr Mike Greene will update his fellow members about his plans for the money at a Thursday town hall meeting.
In a written report published last week, he said: “I am particularly pleased that with the favourable budget outturn for 2015/16, cabinet agreed to put £250,000 onto the Road Rescue Fund.
“My intention this year is to try to spread the use of that money geographically so that we see a reduction on potholes around the borough, rather than concentrating the spend in high spend on a very few particular areas.”
This comes in addition to the Department of Transport’s £250million Pothole Action Fund announced in April, of which Bournemouth council received £73,000.
Dorset County Council received the largest share of that cash locally, getting £817,000, while Borough of Poole received £91,000.
