FLOWERS have been laid in a Poole underpass close to where the body of a man was discovered last week.

The man, who was found dead at a nearby children's play area, has been named locally as Alan Benton Bates.

He was discovered on the pathway linking the Nuffield Industrial Estate to houses at Canford Heath on Thursday

On Saturday, four floral tributes had been laid at the site by friends and loved ones. A message on one read: "Well you went and made me buy flowers for you.

"I'm sorry you must have had a terrible time within yourself.

"You better wait for us on the other side son.

"Rest in peace my friend. Love Danny Boi.

"Always in my thoughts."

Another simply read: "I will love you forever xx"

Police attended the scene on after being contacted by a concerned member of the public shortly after 6.15am.

In a statement they later said: "Officers attended and located the body of a man, believed to be aged in his thirties. There are no suspicious circumstances. Next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.There are no suspicious circumstances."
