EAST Overcliff Drive in Bournemouth will close for three weeks from today while work continues to clear the site of the landslip which took place earlier this year.
The closure starts from 9.30am on Monday morning and will be in place to the east of Meyrick Road, with Meyrick Road remaining unaffected and open to two-way traffic.
Vegetation and rubble from the cliff top above the exposed slope will be removed and a protective matting will be installed over the exposed face of the slope.
The road closure is likely to remain in place until Friday, July 22.
Larry Austin, director of environment at Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “The matting is a biodegradable spun coir fabric and will provide an immediate level of protection to the now exposed cliff face from the possible damaging effects of wind and rain.
“We apologise for any inconvenience the road closure may cause.”
