A SUCCESSION of expert speakers are to “demystify” Dorset’s digital economy for the benefit of businesses who are not part of it.

The aim of That’s The Way To Do It is to show why Bournemouth and Poole were recognised last year as the UK’s fastest-growing digital hub – and raise awareness among other kinds of enterprises.

The event on Monday, July 4, 9.30am-5.15pm at the old Imax site at the Pier Approach, has been organised by the team responsible for Bournemouth’s Silicon Beach conferences along with Seventa Events.

Matt Desmier, who conceived Silicon Beach, said: “The idea behind the event is simple. Increasingly organisations of all shapes and sizes, need to be more and more aware of the digital world around us and how it can positively impact their business. They know this. They’re told it daily. But no one ever tells them why or how, at least not in words or phrases they can understand. And when you don’t know, it’s kind of hard to ask.

“Yet here we are, sat in Bournemouth – the UK’s Fastest Growing Digital Hub – surrounded by people who do know, faces we all recognise and which speak a language we can all understand.

“So That’s The Way To Do It is about creating an environment, where local businesses can come and sit in an event, amongst friendly faces that they know and here from experts, many of whom they’ll recognise, and learn some things that will potentially have a huge impact on their business.

“This won’t be another ‘Here’s the latest in SEO…’ or ‘Google’s recent update will affect your page rankings…’ or ‘Hints and tips about using Twitter’,” he added.

“No, these guys will be saying ‘You know you’ve been told to collect data? Here’s why…’ or ‘Websites cost this much because…’ or ‘In order to sell more, you need to grab people’s attention – here’s how’.”

Bournemouth University has produced a lavish book for each attendee which introduces them to 30 of Bournemouth’s most innovative and interesting businesses.

Mr Desmier said: “It really is simple: the businesses of Bournemouth have a tremendous resource at their fingertips and That’s The Way To Do It should take the fear out of the conversation.”

The speakers are Fiona Anderson of Rocktime, Paul Hamblin of Treehouse Digital, Michelle Davies of Weclick Media, Tara Flynn of Ratio, Philippa Hale of Open Limits, Mike Hawkyard of Amuzo, Andy Headington of Adido, Mark Masters of the ID Group, Paul Smith of RLA and Richard Spencer of A Thousand Monkeys.
