SOME of Dorset council's senior managers could be in line for a pay rise if proposals are given the green light.

Terms and conditions are set to be discussed by members of the staffing committee on Monday following a referral from the full council meeting in April.

Among those who could be paid more are assistant chief executive Patrick Ellis, whose pay could rise from £93,000 to £100,000 under the plans.

The director of the Dorset Waste Partnership, Karyn Punchard, and Andrew Martin, head of highways could also be in line for a pay rise.

There will be no change to the pay of the chief executive.

Leader of Dorset County Council Cllr Robert Gould said: “Our senior managers play a very important role in leading our organisation through significant times of change.

"We have to support the future needs of the council in attracting and retaining those with the appropriate skills in Dorset.

“The committee will need to be satisfied that the proposals are fair and consistent for the whole organisation while recognising the major changes in leadership demanded by these new roles.”

The number of roles at head of service level have reduced by just over 50 per cent, making a net saving of £675,000 over the past six years.

The cost of implementing the proposal will be £60,000 across the 15 posts and £25,000 less than the provision made from existing budgets.
