DEDICATED followers of fashion can look forward to a night featuring former members of one of the biggest bands of the 1960s.

The Kast Off Kinks will be playing at Wimborne’s Tivoli theatre on Saturday, July 2 with original Kinks drummer, Mick Avory, keeping the rhythm.

John Dalton, who performed with The Kinks during the 1970s and 1980s, will be on bass and vocals while, Ian Gibbons, who joined the Kinks in the 80s and 90s and still tours with Ray Davies today, is on keyboards and vocals.

They are joined on guitar and vocals by Dave Clarke who has played with a host of 1960s stars including The Beach Boys, Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience & Tim Rose.

The Kinks led by songwriter-supreme Ray Davies, had 17 top 20 hits and spent no less than 215 weeks on the British charts – that’s just over four years.

The band have not played live since 1996 but the bands’ catalogue of hits is in good hands through The Kast Off Kinks.

The band was formed initially to play at a fans’ convention in 1994 and featured drummer Mick Avory, bassist John Dalton and keyboard player John Gosling along with singer/guitarist Dave Clark.

Over 20 years later another ex-Kinks band member has replaced John Gosling on keyboards and Jim Rodford shares bass duties with John Dalton.

The Kinks were one of the most influential pop and rock bands of the 1960s and scored many hits including Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Waterloo Sunset Sunday Afternoon and You Really Got Me.

They will be performing at the Wimborne venue from 7.30pm.
