BIN collection days are changing for some East Dorset and Christchurch residents Dorset Waste Partnership is making the alterations in order to increase efficiency and make savings.

In Christchurch only around five per cent of households will be impacted, but in East Dorset almost all will.

Transitional arrangements will be put in place, such as an extra Saturday collection, lasting throughout the first week of the new rounds coming into effect.

The DWP, which has written to all affected households, hopes that these measures will minimise disruption and ensure those affected are not left without a rubbish or recycling collection for too long.

Cllr Anthony Alford, chairman of the DWP's Joint Committee, said: “When the Dorset Waste Partnership was conceived, one of our key goals was to deliver savings for our partner councils by operating our collections differently.

“Now that all Dorset residents have the same uniform service, we can return to the rounds and realise the efficiencies of cross-boundary working – this is the advantage that the partnership gives us.”

Any East Dorset or Christchurch residents who wish to double-check if they are affected should visit dorsetforyou.gov.uk/bincollectionchanges. Anyone who hasn’t received a letter by the end of June can assume their collections are unchanged.
