THE aftermath of the Brexit vote has seen people across Dorset airing their views via social media.

Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust tweeted a statement from its board soon after the ‘leave’ vote.

It said: “We recognise the significance of the results of the EU referendum and would like to stress our deep appreciation of the valuable contribution made to our trust by our EU staff.”

Bournemouth hotel owner Sara Uzzell tweeted: “Feeling glum. Can 17million lemmings really be wrong?”

Monica Seeley, author and director of the Mesmo Consultancy, tweeted: “Brexit won and we go backwards in time. My patience with Dorset Conservatives has run out.”

She pledged not to support any Dorset MPs other than ‘remain’ supporters Tobias Ellwood and Simon Hoare, tweeting to ‘leave’ supporting Bournemouth West MP Conor Burns that the outcome was an “appalling result for the party and country”.

North Dorset MP Mr Hoare tweeted: “Lots of constituents saying want a second referendum. Anxious about Scotland and NI leaving the UK. Seeing ‘project fear’ was ‘project reality’.”

But Leave campaigner Duane Farr tweeted “The UKip common sense protest vote won, but is party rebranding required post-negotiations (or sooner)?”

Sam Acton, former chair of Southbourne on Sea Business Association and a graduate in European social policy, tweeted after turmoil in the markets: “Pound will recover, we're a good bet. Financial institutions are part of current status quo which a Leave vote objects to.”
