A MAN has been arrested following an alleged stabbing in West Howe.

Armed police were called to a property in Wavell Road at 12.15pm yesterday following claims a man had been stabbed during a burglary.

A man in his 30s sustained an injury to his leg and was taken to hospital. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

Subsequently a manhunt was launched in the West Howe and Kinson areas involving the NPAS police helicopter.

Police put a cordon in place at the scene and forensics officers attended to investigate.

The force had been called to the scene by the South Western Ambulance Service.

Detective Sergeant Scott Johnson of Bournemouth CID said: "While we are treating this as a serious incident, we have reason to believe that the individuals are known to each other."

A 38-year-old male was arrested last night and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
