MEN, women and children took part in the Twilight Walk for Women on Friday to help raise money for potentially life-saving treatment at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The hospital's charity walk, which saw pink-clad walkers tackle 1km, 5km and 10km routes along the Bournemouth seafront, will this year fund treatment using the new Myosure device - equipment which will detect early signs of cancer of the womb.

The trust already has the equipment in place but not the facilities to deliver treatment.

At present, patients found with growths are admitted and have to undergo general anaesthetic to have them removed which requires them to be in hospital for most of the day to recover.

The Myosure device enables ladies to get back to their normal day-to-day lives much quicker without the need for general anaesthetic.
