A WOMAN airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a car crash in North Dorset on Thursday remains in a serious condition.

The woman, who was travelling in a Jaguar car, was flown to Southampton General Hospital after the collision in Charlton Marshall, which the emergency services attended.

Police officers, firefighters and ambulance crews were called to the A350 after the single vehicle collision was reported at 3.46pm.

Paramedics gave the woman on the spot treatment and police closed the road between Blandford and the Roundhouse roundabout at Sturminster Marshall.

Police also closed the road from Thornicombe to the A350. 

The woman was cut from the wreckage of her vehicle by fire crews from Blandford.

A Dorset Police spokesman confirmed the woman's condition remained serious.
