OH DEAR! Once again Mr Eddie Mitchell has unveiled yet another set of outlandish plans to decimate Sandbanks.
He says that Sandbanks in its present form is “uncared for, unloved and dangerous”. Dangerous?
This statement is grossly unfair and is an insult to Poole council’s grounds maintenance team and their colleagues who work throughout the year in all weathers to keep the area in good order – not always an easy task, especially given the gales and high winds experienced of late when sand is blown everywhere.
Perhaps it is too much to hope that one day 'the penny will drop' with Mr Mitchell and he will realise what most people already know: that visitors and locals flock to this lovely area because they like it the way it is: a natural, unspoilt public open space.
Just think of the massive upheaval and chaos a building project of this size would cause, and all this on land which the aspiring developer does not even own.
