A MAN was arrested after he was seen with a large blade in Boscombe yesterday afternoon.

Dorset Police were called at 4.28pm to reports of a man seen carrying a large knife near a block of flats at Palmerston Road.

A 44-year-old man, of Bournemouth, was arrested for being in possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place.

He was however later released without charge.

As reported yesterday, several police cars and the police helicopter were seen in the area.

One police car was seen at the ‘shared space’ area where Palmerston Road meets Christchurch Road and residents reported seeing a man and a woman being led into a police car.

Shortly afterwards, another two police cars were seen further along Palmerston Road, opposite Shelley Road, and officers were spotted wearing gloves and carrying evidence bags.

Meanwhile, at Adeline Road, opposite the Crescent, there were three police cars and an armed response unit vehicle parked and left empty.

The National Police Air Service tweeted that its helicopter had “assisted Dorset police with an incident in the Boscombe area”, had “provided top cover for ground units” and that “enquiries were ongoing when we left”.
