MOTORISTS travelling along Verwood Road, Three Legged Cross, faced long delays this afternoon after the road was closed because of fallen power cables.
Dorset Police were called to close the B3072 Verwood Road at the Three Legged Cross roundabout just before 1pm after low hanging power cables were reported to be blocking the road near Crab Orchard Way.
A spokesman from Scottish and Southern Energy said engineers were on the road fixing something on the overhead network and needed to bring the cables down.
According to Dorset Police the low hanging power cables made the road impassable for lorries.
The road was closed for about three hours and was opened just before 4pm.
