A PAIR of self-confessed awkward dancers have created a video advent calendar showcasing their moves.

Friends Lewis Bullock, 29, and Luke Bonner, 27, from Bournemouth, have been delighting the internet with their eccentric dance routines to tracks including R. Kelly’s ‘Ignition Remix’, ‘You Really Got Me’ by the Kinks and ‘Think’ by Aretha Franklin.

The festive phenomenon, called #Dancember, has been raising funds as well as laughs with over £1,300 donated to charity so far.

Luke, who works with Lewis at creative agency Thinking Juice, said the pair purposely chose random locations such as Asda car park and Horseshoe Common for their performances.

“Lewis and I, believe it or not, are always up for poking fun at ourselves. For each day’s video, we produce a ‘funny’ animated gif, an Instagram-edit, a short clip and the full video clip,” he explained.

“We’ve had a great response so far. Most importantly this year, we’re dancing for three incredibly important charities – Macmillan Cancer Support, Julia’s House and Oakhaven Trust. Each are special to us for different reasons.

“We’re asking friends and fans to pick one of our charities and spend their chocolate advent calendar money on supporting a worthwhile cause instead.”

With nine more dances to go, the duo are still seeking out locations for their upcoming advent days. They are hoping to gather a flash mob on Bournemouth Pier for their final dance video.

Luke and Lewis, who met at the Arts University Bournemouth, have spent several years perfecting their ‘dad dancing’ moves, and their previous videos have been shared over 15,000 times on Facebook.

“A long time ago, 2008 to be precise, we started The Art of Dancing,” Luke said. “Two youthful chaps. Bad dancing. Random locations. The internet loved it.

“But the world has changed,” he continued, “and you can’t go to the loo without hearing about some atrocity around the world. So we thought, now is the perfect time to dust off our dancing shoes and bring back some Christmas cheer.”
