A £60m development project which promised to transform Bournemouth's skyline is now complete.

Works started for the foundations of the brand new Hilton Hotel at Terrace Mount over two years ago and, as of tomorrow, 172 bedrooms, Sky Bar, residential apartments, spa and restaurant will be open for business.

The Mayor of Bournemouth, cllr John Adams, and Conor Burns MP for Bournemouth West have been invited for the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, alongside the general manager Cedric Horgnies, and representatives of London-based THAT Group; owners of the hotel.

As the first collaborative project with THAT Group, guests will have a chance to see the bespoke interiors and furnishings - unseen in any other Hilton hotel - designed exclusively for the Bournemouth site by Ray Kelvin - founder of the Ted Baker brand.

The four-star hotel sits aside the smaller three-star Hamptons by Hilton - which opened earlier this year, together providing an extra 300 rooms to the locale.

It is the largest hotel development in the town for 100 years and has helped Bournemouth to be named as one of the highest growth areas in the UK.

Financial advisers Grant Thornton's High Growth Index ranked Bournemouth higher in terms of economic, demographic and place growth ahead of neighbouring Southampton and Portsmouth.

The hotel promises five-star service offering incredible views across the town centre and along the beach.

Cedric Horgnies, general manager, Hilton Bournemouth, said: “It’s fantastic to be opening Hilton Bournemouth for the festive season.

“We’ve had a hugely dedicated team on board throughout its development and we can’t wait to welcome guests and the community alike into our unique hotel.”

As previously reported, Mr Horgnies hopes Bournemouth's newest hotel will plug a gap in the town's tourism scene providing mid-range bedrooms with the Hamptons as well as top-end products at the eight-storey building which has been accepting bookings over the weekend.
