An uninsured driver had his car seized by police who spotted him arranging a sale on Facebook - and then a second car seized just one hour later.

Dorset Police No Excuse team were taking part in Operation Jingle, the force's drink/drive campaign on Saturday night.

Writing on their Facebook page, the team said: "The driver of the below vehicle was seen pulling away from traffic lights whilst texting.

Bournemouth Echo:

"On stopping the young man, we asked why he took such a dangerous risk, especially with his young girlfriend in the front seat next to him. His explanation was that he was trying to buy another vehicle and he was arranging the sale on Facebook! NO EXCUSE!

"Further checks revealed the car was not insured, so we seized it and informed the chap he would be summonsed to court over the two offences.

"Imagine our amazement when we learned that colleagues stopped the SAME man ONE HOUR LATER in a DIFFERENT car for the SAME OFFENCE of Driving with No Insurance!

"Needless to say, the second car was also seized and this chap will have some explaining to do in front of the Magistrates.

"There is no getting through to some people..."

Later that night the team were involved in a pursuit around Poole when an uninsured car was driven away from officers trying to get him to pull over.
