A WOMAN was reportedly raped in Boscombe precinct in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police have called for anyone with information to come forward following the alleged sex attack, said to have taken place between 3.45am and 4.15am.

Officers received reports at 8.56am on the same day that a woman had been raped by an unknown man.

An investigation is now underway, and the woman is being supported by specially-trained officers.

The alleged offender is described as black and five feet six inches tall.

Detective Constable Neil Third, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I know members of the public often travel through the precinct at the time of the reported incident and I would urge anyone who saw a man matching the description given to please call 101.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has any information that may assist my investigation to please call Dorset Police.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”

A 23-year-old man of Southwark in London was arrested on suspicion of rape, and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
