It's the most expensive beach hut to go on sale this year - but even at £250,000, the same price as a six-bedroom family home in some parts of Britain, experts expect a queue of people wanting to view.

The hut, which has just 138sq ft of accommodation, comes with spectacular sea views in an enviable position on remote Mudeford Spit in Christchurch.

The simple timber cabin has a fitted kitchen – although no running water – and can sleep six adults.

It has a supply of electricity via solar panels on the roof.

There is no bathroom nor any washing facilities. Instead, the new owners will have to share a communal shower and toilet block.

And because of its remote location, the property can only be reached by a long walk, a short ferry journey or a ride on novelty land train.

The cabin has gone up for sale through estate agents Denisons for £250,000, which is at the upper limit for asking prices for a beach hut at Mudeford.

The same amount of money will buy a six-bedroom farmhouse with six acres of land in the Peak District or a five-bedroom detached house in Pontefract, West Yorks.

Daniel Cherry, from Denisons, said: "The prices of beach huts at Mudeford are still going up because the demand is there.

"Even at this time of year, as soon as we put one on the market we start getting enquiries.

"We've got a whole list of about 100 people who are waiting for a beach hut to come on the market.

"There is no upper limit to prices for these huts at the moment. They are going up and up.

"This hut is at the more enviable end of the spit, facing the sea and away from the general busy area that tourists tend to go to.

"It also has a great feeling of space. Most beach huts have a full mezzanine floor but this one has only got a half mezzanine which means the living space looks much bigger, even though it's a standard size hut."

Owners can only sleep at the huts between March and October, although they can visit any time of year, and they have to share a communal shower block.

They also have to shell out between £2,500 and £4,000 a year in ground rent to Christchurch Borough Council.

The most expensive beach hut have marketed in Mudeford went up for £270,000 in 2014. This year's prices have so far been lower - a mere £125,000 for hut 224 in August.
