CHERRIES fans travelling to their team’s game at Swansea City tomorrow are being urged to arrive early as they face extra security checks.

The move comes in the wake of heightened fears following the terror attacks that shook France last Friday.

AFC Bournemouth travel to the Liberty Stadium for the 3pm Premier League game in South Wales.

It is expected that extra police officers will be brought in.

One of the targets for last week’s atrocities was the Stade de France in Paris, where the French national team was playing its German counterparts in a friendly match.

Earlier this week other major matches in Europe were called off amid security fears, including Belgium v Spain and Germany v Netherlands.

A spokesman for the Liberty Stadium said: "The stadium will be operating as normal and spectator safety will remain the top priority as is the case for every football game.

"We will continue to work closely with South Wales Police and there may be an increased police presence simply as a reassurance to supporters.

"We would ask that all spectators arrive a little earlier than normal as some basic searches will take place at the turnstiles."

The first of three explosions happened outside the Stade de France, which is on the northern edge of the French capital, last Friday night.

A man wearing a suicide vest was also prevented from entering when a routine security check found it and a second man blew himself up outside a separate entrance.

A third detonated his suicide vest at a fast-food restaurant near the stadium.

Only themselves and one bystander were killed in what has been called a failed attack among last Friday’s chaos.

Yesterday it was also confirmed that the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, will be played before the game as a mark of respect for those affected by the attacks and also in support of Swansea’s French striker, Bafetimbi Gomis.

All of this weekend’s other Premier League games will also play the anthem.
