A WOMAN has died after being struck by a train at a railway station this morning.
Trains from Weymouth and Bournemouth to Waterloo are being diverted via Havant after the incident at Micheldever Station.
Police and paramedics are currently at the scene.
A spokesman for British Transport Police, said: “Shortly before 9.45am on Tuesday, 17 November, we were called to Micheldelver rail station, Winchester, following reports of a person having been struck be a train.
"Officers attended, alongside colleagues from Hampshire Constabulary and local paramedics, and discovered a woman had been struck and killed by a train.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to determine the identity of the deceased. The station remains closed whilst officers continue to work in the area."
Delays between Southampton Central and Basingstoke are expected to last until 2pm.
Trains between Portsmouth / Weymouth and London Waterloo will be diverted via Havant, extending journey times by up to 30 minutes.
