THE swimming pools and sanarium at a Bournemouth leisure centre are to close for more than two months for repairs.

The facilities at Pelhams Park Leisure Centre in Kinson will shut from Friday, October 30, until Sunday, January 3, operators BH Live said.

It is to allow for works to repair damaged tiling and maintenance on drains.

BH Live said it had been “working closely with Bournemouth council to identify a suitable time to carry out these works”, adding that, while there was never an ideal time, the period chosen would cause the least disruption to users.

The rest of the centre will remain open as usual.

Customers have been contacted and alternative swimming pools and water based activities will be available at Littledown Centre and Stokewood Leisure Centre.

Mike Lyons, BH Live director of leisure facilities, said: “Pelhams Park Leisure Centre is a popular and well-used facility, with more than 12,000 visits to the pool each month.

“These works will maintain the quality of the facility and ensure it continues to operate to a high standard.

“We are working with Bournemouth council and contractors to get the swimming pools open again as soon as possible and thank customers for bearing with us while these essential repairs are carried out.”

The swimming pools and sanarium are planned to reopen to the public on Monday, January 4.

Pelhams Park Leisure Centre is managed and operated by BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council.

It has two swimming pools, a sanarium, large gym, aerobics studios, spin studio, FeelGood Factory and on-site catering.

The centre has three tennis courts plus eight floodlit 3G rubber crumb artificial training pitches used regularly by Play Football.
