THE driver of a car escaped injury after his vehicle caught fire following a crash.
The collision between the two vehicles took place moments after the first car had hit a deer on Main Road, near Swanage in the early hours of this morning.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said they were alerted by the fire service at 5.08am.
No-one was injured in the collision, which took place near Compact Farm, Worth Matravers.
The car was destroyed by the engine fire.
The road was closed while the vehicle was recovered. Highways engineers were also alerted to assess the condition of the road surface.
PC Roan Doyle tweeted: "At an RTC in Swanage. Owners of this car had a very lucky escape."
He thanked Dorset Fire and Rescue for their service.
