A MAN is in critical condition after a car left a busy dual carriageway and ended up in a field on Friday evening.

Another occupant of the Saab 9-3 broke his neck and a third suffered a broken ankle in the single-vehicle crash on the A35 Upton bypass.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

They said they were called at 8.26pm to a single-vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway.

The black Saab, travelling from Poole, had left the road and ended up in a field.

A 28-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was trapped inside the car. He was freed by firefighters and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where his condition was said to be critical but stable.

A 34-year-old man broke his neck and a 36-year-old man sustained a broken ankle.

They are being treated in Poole Hospital and their condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

All three men are from Hungary but living in Poole.

The road was closed until 6am on Saturday.

PC Kevin Farenden, of Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a black Saab being driven along the A35 prior to the incident to please call me on 101.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
