WIMBORNE town crier Chris Brown is set to play an exclusive DJ set at world-famous artist Banksy’s theme park Dismaland in Weston Super Mare.

Tomorrow Chris will be appearing under his DJ Dapper Dan moniker at the giant art exhibition.

Banksy has described the park as "a festival of art, amusements and entry-level anarchism", adding: "This is an art show for the 99 per cent who'd rather be at Alton Towers."

Since opening to the public in August the site has gained notoriety with thought-provoking work contributed by dozens of artists from across the globe.

These include boats full of asylum seekers which can be driven round a pond, two juggernauts performing ballet and a camp training guests how to break into bus billboards.

Chris was also invited to the Dismaland launch party last month and had a chance to explore the sights.

He said: “It’s a very impressive art exhibition. The stuff outside is only part of it and I was blown away. It’s one of the best modern art exhibitions I’ve ever seen.

“It’s very topical with the boating lake full of refugees. On the same day I visited, people were being rescued in the thousands in real life. It’s all very poignant.”

It’s believed Banksy spray painted a stencil that said ‘Buried Treasure’ on Bournemouth Pier in 2004, which has since been removed. The real identity of Bristol artist Banksy is famously a mystery.

Chris added: “I’m sure he was there, but who knows. He may not even be a man; he might be a woman or even a collective. People were eyeing each other up quite a bit at the launch. I even had a laminated pass that said ‘artist’ and people would come up and ask what part of Dismaland that I’d done.”

Saturday night will see Chris perform as DJ Dapper Dan and play alongside American hip-hop group, Run The Jewels.

“I’ve got exclusive bits of music that have been sent to me, so that will be saved for that night. I normally start out with some early ska and move it into the dub, it all depends how long I’ve got," he added.

Since 2008, Chris has produced the weekly reggae radio show, Skanking Delights with DJ Dapper Dan on Forest FM every Saturday night at 10pm.
