TWO crashes took place on the same stretch of road in less than three hours this morning.

Emergency services were called to Alder Road in Poole during rush hour after a two-car smash.

At 10.25am, reports of another two-vehicle impact were reported, and an elderly woman suffered a back injury.

In the first incident, which took place at approximately 7.46am, a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara registered to a man from a Bournemouth address and a white Lexus registered to a woman from a Poole address collided.

The Suzuki overturned in the collision and landed on its side.

The road was briefly closed between Herbert Avenue and Winston Avenue to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

However, no one was hurt in the incident, although both motorists were seen by ambulance crews.

Just over two-and-a-half hours later, a white Peugeot and a black Toyota Avensis, both of which are registered to Poole men, were involved in a crash.

One person was taken to Poole Hospital suffering with a back injury.

A spokesperson from the South Western Ambulance Service said: "An elderly woman is medically trapped in a car by a back injury.

"She is being treated by paramedics."

Two Dorset Fire and Rescue Service crews from Redhill Park and Springbourne attended to cut the woman free from the vehicle before she was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
