POLICE are hunting an intruder who raided a child's bedroom in the early hours of the morning.

The youngster awoke to discover a man in his late teens or early 20s in the bedroom on Friday, August 21.

But the brave child kicked out at the offender, possibly injuring his face or shoulder, and the man then left the room.

Police have now released an e-fit in a bid to track down the man, who broke into a separate property in Bovington shortly afterwards, but was disturbed by the occupants and ran off.

The incidents happened between 2.30am and 3.30am in the Andover Green area.

Nothing was taken from either of the properties and none of the occupants were injured.

However, police say the offender may have sustained injuries consistent with a kick.

Detective Constable Nick Gravenor, of Western CID, said officers are still trying to establish exactly what the man's intentions were.

“Following further enquiries we are able to release more details about the incident and this e-fit image," he said.

“I would like to hear from anyone who recognises, or thinks they be able to help identify, the suspect.

“I am aware of a house party that took place in the area which a number of people attended.

“I am appealing directly to those guests to get in touch with me if they noticed anyone acting suspiciously.

“I would also like to mention how incredibly brave the child was, particularly under the circumstances.”

Local officers are conducting additional patrols in the area to reassure members of the public.
