A 73-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in a collision with a car in Charminster on Sunday.
The incident, which involved a black Mazda 323 being driven by a 21-year-old man from Bournemouth, took place in Charminster Road near The Richmond Arms pub at around 4.10pm.
The pedestrian was taken Poole Hospital with head, arm, neck and pelvis. He remains in hospital and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Next of kin have been informed.
Three police cars and one ambulance attended the scene.
A section of the road was closed between Alma Road and Heron Court Road for around two hours while an investigation was carried out.
Dorset Police thanked members of the public for their patience while the road was closed as officers carried out their investigations.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the driving of the black Mazda prior to the collision to contact them. Witnesses are urged to call 101 quoting incident number 16:339.
