ACCESS to this year's Great Dorset Steam Fair is being made easier than ever with direct bus services run by a local operator.

Damory will be putting on services throughout the event, which runs from Wednesday, September 2 to Sunday, September 6.

Visitors to the fair will be able to travel directly between the site and stops in various locations including Poole railway station and bus station, Wimborne and Blandford.

Damory area manager Adam Keen said: "We are working closely with organisers to run services from first thing in the morning on Wednesday, September 2 at regular intervals until the early hours of Sunday, September 6.

"The Great Dorset Steam Fair is widely regarded as the leading show of its type in the world, with thousands of visitors enjoying the delights on offer over the course of the week.

"So our team is pulling out all the stops to make sure they are able to make their way here and back quickly and in comfort.

"We are keen to encourage people to leave their cars behind and have the chance to immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere here - without having to worry about how they were getting home."

At the end of each day there will be frequent bus services from the event site at Tarrant Hinton to destinations across the region including all main towns and some local railway stations.

Buses will depart the event at regular intervals until 12.15am on Sunday morning.

Mr Keen added: "We’re also operating a special shuttle service, connecting various parts of the Great Dorset Steam Fair in a continuous loop.

"We know that campers, exhibitors and visitors wishing to travel between the event and the car park will find this useful.

"And we are enhancing our X12 services too - in order to cater for extra numbers during the course of the week."

Great Dorset Steam Fair operations director Julian Hubbuck said: “We are delighted to be working with Damory, as they have a deep history in the local area and we have every faith that they will look after our visitors well.

"This service offers more than just convenience, it’s the chance to leave the car at home and get the full GDSF experience."
