A MAN appeared in court yesterday morning charged with the attempted murder of his former partner.

During the short hearing at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court Michael Kilby, dressed in a white T-shirt and accompanied by a security guard, spoke only to confirm his name and address.

The 49-year-old of Station Terrace, Wimborne, is charged with ABH, criminal damage, possession of a bladed article, namely a knife with a 17cm blade, and attempted murder.

These charges refer to an incident said to have taken place at Abbotsbury Road, Broadstone, Poole, August 1, where it is alleged Kilby attempted to murder his ex-partner Susan Tuivai.

Kilby was represented in court by solicitor Todd Twine, who made no application for bail on behalf of his client. The prosecutor was Nicola Reece.

Chairman of the bench Michael Davis told Kilby: “This cannot be dealt with in this court. It has to be sent to the crown court. In the meantime you will be remanded in custody.”

Kilby’s next appearance is scheduled for Winchester Crown Court on August 10.
