DOES anybody at Bournemouth Town Hall have any idea of what the word ‘planning’ means?

The school holidays have just started, the air show (arguably the biggest event of the year) is in four weeks’ time and someone has decided that this is the ideal time to add to the town’s traffic problems with six weeks of diversions to bus services resulting from the private development at the former Exeter Road car park.

It’s bad enough that the council missed the opportunity to purchase the site and turn into a much-needed bus station – but it adds insult to injury that, at the busiest time of the year, traffic is having to be diverted in order to avoid any costly hold up to a project from which private developers will make a great deal of money.

If the council had any backbone (or respect for the people of this town) they’d have told the developers that they would have to put whatever it is they are doing for the next six weeks on hold until after the air show.

Fat chance of that happening of course.
