A MOTHER-of-two killed in a car crash as she returned from her sister’s funeral died of severe chest injuries, an inquest has heard.

Tereasa Cutler, 49, of Linnet Close in Ringwood, was the driver of a blue Ford Fiesta involved in a head-on collision with a black BMW on the A31, near Lake Gates, Wimborne on June 10.

Assistant Deputy Coroner for Dorset, Richard Middleton, heard Ms Cutler’s body was formally identified by her brother, Anthony Woodland.

The inquest was opened at Bournemouth Coroner's Court and adjourned until January 3 next year to allow the coroner to carry out further inquiries.

As previously reported, Ms Cutler had left sister Patricia Woodland’s funeral at the Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground in Poole shortly before the fatal collision took place.

Ms Woodland was a technician with the South Western Ambulance Service and more than 50 paramedics had turned out to form a guard of honour in tribute at her funeral, while the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance performed a fly-past.

Tragically, some of the paramedics who attended the funeral were later sent to the crash scene in which Ms Cutler died, around about four miles away from the burial ground.

Ms Cutler’s daughter, Alice, 18, 16-year-old son, Daniel, and 19-year-old nephew Joseph Woodland, were also travelling in the car with their mother when the accident collision took place.

All were airlifted for hospital treatment but are expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the BMW, a 24-year-old Dorchester man, and the front seat passenger of the same car were treated at Poole Hospital with serious injuries.
