FUNDS raised at a recent charity walk for Bournemouth Hospital Charity has broken the £20,000 mark and still increasing.
Sponsorship money has been coming in thick and fast according to organisers of last month’s Twilight Walk for Women, and the charity is now appealing for all money to be submitted by July 10.
Barry Wilson, fundraising officer at Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “2015 was our best year yet in terms of numbers so we’re hoping this will be reflected in the amount raised.
“Exceeding £20,000 is a fantastic amount but we know there’s still more to come. If you haven’t submitted your sponsorship money, please do so – it really will make a difference.”
A record-breaking 500 walkers took part in the twilight stroll along the seafront, sponsored by the Village Hotel. Money raised from the event will be spent on medical equipment for the new Jigsaw Building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH).
The building is due to open this year and will include a state-of-the-art Women’s Health Unit and Cancer and Blood Disorders Unit that will benefit thousands of patients.
Mr Wilson added the date had been already set for next year’s walk, which will take place on Friday June 3 2016.
Sponsorship money can be dropped into the charity office in the main atrium at RBH, or be paid by calling the Fundraising Team on 01202 704060.
