I RECEIVED my copy of the summer edition of BH Life but was disappointed, after reading it from cover to cover, that while much was made of the improvements being made to the Pier Approach and the regeneration of Boscombe, there was no mention of what the council has in mind (if anything) to resolve the ongoing problems in the Square and Gervis Place caused by the noisy, noxious and unsightly logjam of buses during daylight hours.
Almost 40 years after the bus station was destroyed by fire, one of the country’s biggest holiday resorts is still without a bus station.
Allowing private developers to take over the Exeter Road car park was a lost opportunity. I certainly don’t buy the council’s excuse that it couldn’t afford the site - it certainly seems to have no problem finding the cash to lay down fancy paving stones in Boscombe - and to what purpose we might well ask.
After four decades of foot-dragging by the Town Hall, a proper bus station for Bournemouth should be made a number one priority.
