TWO men left a dog walker with a possible fractured jaw and injuries to his face in what police say was an unprovoked attack in New Milton.

Officers from Hampshire Police have today issued an appeal for information after the man was attacked on Thursday, June 18.

A spokesman for the force said that between 8.30 and 8.50pm the 45-year-old victim went to the rec at New Milton and sat on a bench while his dog ran around.

A group of men approached him and, thinking they looked aggressive, the man walked away.

He crossed the road and walked into Old Milton Road.

Police said that two members of the group followed the victim and, as he walked past Tesco, he was assaulted.

He suffered a possible fracture to his jaw and facial injuries.

Detective Constable Steve Roman said: “This was a violent unprovoked attack which took place by a busy road. Were you driving along the road at the time? Did you see what happened? I would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

The man who assaulted the victim is described as being white and aged between 16 and 23.

He is said to be of muscular and stocky build, with short hair and wearing a tight-fitting white top and jeans.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Roman at Southampton police station by calling 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
