A YOUNG Bournemouth boy scooped the prize of a year's membership to a prestigious leisure club thanks to his superb hand-eye co-ordination.

Lewis Bladon, 10, triumphed at the Westover Group Motor Showcase – held in the Bournemouth International Centre in May – when he beat 125 other entrants of all ages in a hand-eye coordination challenge.

His victory has been rewarded with a year-long complimentary membership of Bournemouth’s West Hants Club.

Lewis and his dad, Paul Bladon, have now visited the club to receive their prize from Westover director, Paul Collins, and West Hants chief executive, Peter Elviss.

Peter said: “We set up a hand-eye coordination activity - in which we challenged people to see how quickly they could throw five bean bags through a small aperture more than six feet away.

“Lewis managed to do it in just 3.9 seconds, beating the next nearest contestant by almost five seconds. It was a pretty impressive time, but I have since learnt he’s a keen golfer and cricketer, so clearly he’s been honing his skills on the courses and pitches of Dorset."

Paul said: "The whole family were really pleased to hear of Lewis’ success and we can’t wait to get stuck in and join the gym, as well as get Lewis and his younger brother, Jake, going with some tennis lessons."
