A FIRE crew was sent to a block of flats in Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime – after an oven glove caught light.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said that firefighters were sent to the scene in Admiralty Road, Southbourne, at 12.45pm after smoke alarms sounded.
When they arrived, they found there had been a small fire in a top floor flat, involving an oven glove that had accidentally been left in the oven.
A spokesman for the fire service added: “Fortunately the fire was out on arrival and there was only a small amount of damage caused to the actual glove. There was also mild smoke damage to the entire flat.
“Fire fighters remained on scene for some time giving local residents some home fire safety advice.”
Around an hour earlier, two fire crews were sent out when smoke was seen coming from the kitchen of a home in West Howe.
Firefighters were called at 11.49am and on arrival found that a pan that had been left on the hob had caught light.
The damage was confined to the pan and the fire service reminded people not to leave cooking unattended.
