VOTING to decide the finalists in Richard Branson’s £1m Pitch to Ritch business competition ends on Tuesday, June 16.
Pitch to Rich is being run across the country by Virgin Media Business to find the country’s most innovative enterprises. The company is offering a £1m business accelerator prize fund for three wining businesses – which can be an idea, a start-up or a company with big growth potential.
Among the 32 semi-finalists is Roccbox, a portable stone bake oven which can cook a pizza in 90 seconds, created by Tom Gozney of Christchurch.
Mr Gozney said of his invention: “I wanted to get people together and get people really cooking again. The name? It’s simple, it’s a rock in a box, Roccbox!”
He entered the New Things category of the competition in a bid to win up £50,000 of investment. It is one of 11 pitches shortlisted for its category.
Among the semi-finalists in the Grow category are Charlie and Harry Thuillier of Mudeford, with Oppo, their luxury brand of healthy ice cream. As previously reported, Oppo contains fewer calories than an apple.
