DECECTIVES investigating the death of a man in Dorchester have appealed for help from the public as they try to piece together his last movements.

A murder investigation has been launched after police were called to a flat in Dorchester and found the body of 46-year-old Elliot Handley, of Eastleigh.

Police have this morning released a photograph of Mr Handley.

Officers confirmed to that an address near Weymouth has also been searched in connection with the murder.

Two police cars and a dog unit attended Icen Farm Industrial Estate in Bincombe yesterday and carried out a search of the area.

Meanwhile, three people arrested on suspicions of Mr Handley's murder have now been bailed.

A 43-year-old man from Dorchester arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed to a secure hospital.

A 47-year-old man from Dorchester and a 69-year-old man from Weymouth, also arrested on suspicion of murder, have been bailed until June 2015.

The cause of Mr Handley’s death has not been disclosed.

But police say his next of kin have been informed and are being kept updated by specially-trained officers. The coroner has also been notified.

Mr Handley was last seen in Truro, Cornwall, on Thursday, May 21 before making his way to Dorset.

He is described as white, of slim build and average height and clean shaven with short dark hair. He had a tattoo on both arms.

He was possibly wearing a light brown jumper over a blue/green T-shirt and a black padded jacket on top. He was also likely to be carrying a blue North Face rucksack with yellow straps and an acoustic guitar.

Detective Inspector Neil Devoto, heading the investigation, said officers were still trying to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

His body was found in a flat at Compass House in The Grove, Dorchester, just before 10pm on Tuesday.

Det Insp Devoto said: "Enquiries are still underway as we try to establish the exact circumstances leading up to Elliot’s death."

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Elliot between Thursday May 21 and Tuesday May 26, or had recent contact with him, to contact me urgently.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in The Grove on the evening of May 26 or who has any other information that could be useful.”

Mr Handley, whose body was found in a property above the Dorchester Collection car dealership, was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The area was cordoned off as detectives started carrying out house-to-house inquiries in a bid to catch Mr Elliot’s killer. They also visited a nearby farm as part of their investigation.
