POPULAR antiques show Flog It! will be filmed at Highcliffe Castle in the latest boost for the historic venue.

The BBC One show, presented by Paul Martin, will visit the castle on Wednesday, June 17.

Based loosely on a treasure hunt, members of the public are invited to bring along three antiques and collectables they might be interested in selling.

Once valued, the owner and a team of experts decide whether an object should go forward for auction.

If the item is chosen it is included in a sale a few weeks later.

Everyone who goes along to the Valuation Day will receive a free valuation – even if their antiques are not chosen to go forward for auction.

Alex Habgood, location manager, said: “Paul Martin and the entire Flog It team are really pleased to be bringing the show to Dorset.

"We always receive a warm welcome when we come to the county.

"Highcliffe Castle is a stunning venue steeped in history, I’m sure the castle and grounds will provide the perfect setting for our valuation day; our experts are all looking forward to welcoming people along for their free valuations.

"If you’ve ever wondered how much your boot sale bargains or clutter in the loft might be worth, now is your chance to find out."

Paul Martin, the show's presenter, added: “I’m delighted to be bringing Flog It back to Dorset; it’s a beautiful county. I’m looking forward to exploring Highcliffe Castle and revealing some of its fascinating history to our viewers. I hope as many people as possible will come along to see us with their items for valuation.”

David Hopkins, Highcliffe Castle manager, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Flog It to the castle. As well as giving local people the chance to have their antiques valued for free; it will give us the opportunity to showcase the castle to the wider public throughout the country. And you never know – someone might unearth something which is of real value.”

The Castle has previously been the location for The Antiques Roadshow, Weekend Watch Dog - Live, Heritage - Love it or Lose It, ITV The Year of the Promise, The Real Kaiser Bill, and Wexford.

The show will be at the castle between 9.30am and 4pm.

The items selected at the valuation day will go under the hammer at Cottees Auctions, The Market, East Street, Wareham on Tuesday, July 7.
