Football fans from far and wide have also contacted the Daily Echo to pass on their messages of congratulations to AFC Bournemouth

John Whiteley, New Zealand: "I am delighted, to say the least, with the Cherries promotion. I grew up 5 minutes from the Stokewood Road swimming baths and was a Bournemouth fan. As a 15-year-old I managed to watch all the home games for the FA Cup. What a year that was.  The total number of goals scored has only this season been beaten with a much better result!! The ghost of Freddie Cox must be jumping up and down."

Colin Day: "I have lived in South East Asia for nearly the last 20 years and always look for the Bournemouth result. This year on Malaysian satellite TV we have been getting games from the championship. This morning I woke at 2.30am to watch the Cherries gain promotion to the Premiership. Great season great team great club. Go Cherries Go."

Anne Matthew: "Never watch football but am immensely proud and happy for loyal Bournemouth football fans. What an accomplishment, could hear the cheering from my house."

Nicola Storey: "Amazing atmosphere. So proud of the lads. Emotional night."

Robert Blyth: "Congratulations AFC Bournemouth on your promotion to the Premier League. As a Nottingham Forest fan I know all about miracles, with Eddie Howe you might experience a few more. Fantastic, well done."

Andrew Banyard: "They said Bournemouth was only a little club and would never make the top flight. Wrong. Well done everyone involved with the club. Fantastic season. Well deserved success."

Michael Chalk in Australia: "Having lived the past 19 years in Oz and having watched The Cherries at Dean Court since a small boy, I am as proud and dumbstruck with what has happened this season and tonight, that all I can do is congratulate the whole club in making history and bringing the AFC BOURNEMOUTH name to a greater world, hopefully I will see a lot more RED and BLACK shirts in the Sydney streets now!

"To my dad, David Chalk, a true lifelong supporter, the promised land has arrived and I could not be happier for you. To Max, you may want to give season tickets to my nieces, as they have now watched 21 games and only seen 1 loss- what talismans. To Eddie, Jason and the team- you are the best-stay with us and make us even greater and enjoy the off season, you absolutely deserve it! GO, GO, GO YOU AMAZING CHERRIES!"
