A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after colliding with the central reservation on the A31 near St Leonards yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.30am.

A spokesman from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said upon their arrival crews found the motorcyclist's foot was trapped between the back wheel and motorcycle frame.

The firefighters released the motorcyclist using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools. The casualty was then taken to hospital by road ambulance.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said the motorcyclist is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

One lane of the carriageway was closed temporarily while emergency services dealt with the incident.
