A NEW campaign aimed at building on the reinvigoration of a Bournemouth suburb has been launched.

I Love Kinson hopes to further garner community spirit and a feel good atmosphere for the area, which has seen an uplift aesthetically this year with the opening of the Tesco store in the centre of the village.

Kinson Business Forum (KBF) is behind the campaign.

Ramesh Lal, from the organisation, said: “It’s about keeping the momentum going of the regeneration. This is the emerging Kinson and we want to celebrate where we are now.”

The arrival of Tesco has been seen by many as a boost, creating a centrepiece to an area that was previously run down.

After going through a substantial amount of upheaval while the store was being built, businesses and the wider community are now hoping to reap the benefits.

Ramesh added: “We have had a difficult time over the last year with the road works and the construction works and we want to feel good now and establish the feel good factor.

“We want to extend this to every stakeholder in Kinson. It’s a genuine community feel and having the rejuvenated green and the memorial garden, it’s all calmed down nicely now after the upheaval.

“The idea is to promote it at every opportunity.”

That will include upcoming events, such as the popular Donkey Derby over the early May Bank Holiday and a music festival planned for July.

The campaign is being backed by businesses and organisations including KBF, Poppies Florist, KC Opticians, Tesco, BH Live, MJP Law and The Hub and library.

Ramesh said: “We want to promote it at every level, especially with community groups.

“We’re aiming so that the I Love Kinson logo is associated with the Kinson area and becomes a common thread.”

Bob Wright, chairman of KBF, added: “It’s off of the back of the new build that’s come in and it’s to encourage people to come down to do their shopping and to encourage businesses into thinking that it’s going to be an area for shopping.

“We’re trying to encourage delis, butchers and fishmongers, for example, to come into the area, as the market is here because Tesco don’t have that.

“With the brightening up we’re determined to make sure that people know that Tesco car park is not just for Tesco customers, you can park there for three hours and experience Kinson.”

Part of the campaign will see sponsored planters with the logo on installed around the area.
