CREWS tackled a fire on Avon Heath this afternoon.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called at 4.54pm by several residents to reports of a blaze near Birch Road.
Three crews used hose reels jets and beaters to extinguish the flames.
The incident was dealt with within an hour, but crews remained on scene to dampen down the land until 7.15pm.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involved involved an area approximately 50m x 30m and is thought to have started accidentally."
