POLICE have been called to a busy main road in between Wimborne and Sturminster Marshall after a deer is believed to have been hit by a vehicle.

The call came into Dorset Police at around 9.30am with reports of a deer on the road on Dorchester Road.

On arrival, officers found a deer on the side of the road, which is thought to have been injured after being hit by a vehicle.

A spokesperson for the police said that officers are working to control the traffic while dealing with the incident, with a large number of cars backing up along Dorchester Road.
