POLICE and bomb disposal experts were called to a house in Charminster on Wednesday night to dispose of a grenade.
The device, believed to date back to the Second World War, was found in a drawer at a house in Richmond Wood Road.
Officers attended at around 7pm and called Army experts to ensure the device is safe.
A spokesman said the grenade is harmless and no cordon has been erected.
