Police are appealing for witnesses after a haul of jewellery and silverware was stolen from a property in Blandford.

Officers say a distinctive gold pocket watch, which has a Royal crest on the back, and several other expensive items were taken during a burglary at a house in Durweston earlier today.

The items, which included pieces of jewellery and silver trays, were stolen between 10.15am and 12.45pm.

Police Constable Shane Hewitt, of Blandford police, said: “The pocket watch has the royal crest on the back of it and was presented to the victim’s great aunt by Edward VII. It is very rare and there will not be many of these in circulation.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Durweston area of Blandford area on the day to please contact me.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered any of the items, particularly the distinctive pocket watch, for sale.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 23:316.
